Kaarondinhah

Kaarondinhah is a place for all seasons. This cabin has the conveniences of home and at the same time offers immediate access to a wide variety of activities in the pristine wilds of the Penn's Creek area and surrounding forested ridges of The Seven Mountains Range in Central Pennsylvania. Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking, hunting and cross-country skiing are available right outside of your door. Escape from "the grind" and be surrounded by nature's flora and fauna.

Whether your interests are a romantic weekend or family vacation, a company gathering or small group retreat, Kaarondinhah can provide the solitude and peace that refreshes the mind, body and spirit.

The cabin will comfortably accommodate 4-6 people but can handle a group of up to 10. On the main floor you will find three bedrooms with a king, a double and a twin bed respectively. If additional space is needed, there is a lower level bedroom where you will find two double and two twin beds. The kitchen is equipped with two refrigerators, an electric stove, microwave and assorted small appliances. The cupboards are stocked with pots, pans, most utensils and dinnerware. A mountain stone fireplace adds warmth and ambiance to the main living and dining area. Two bathrooms, shower or bath, provide added convenience. Enjoy the smells, sounds and sights that the forest offers from the screened-in porch or the open deck, while cooking your dinner on the grill.

Observe bald eagles and osprey as they patrol the stream or watch playful mink run through hollow, fallen tree trunks. The region upstream from the cabin and in the surrounding Seven-Mountain Range contains an abundance of wildlife. Deer, turkey, wild ducks, geese and grouse are prevalent. Bears roam this entire region and are sometimes seen nosing around the cabin (see picture). These are just some of the many birds and animals that you could encounter as you explore these wooded valleys and ridges.

Search for wild edible mushrooms in the spring and fall or pick huckleberries in late summer and teaberries in the autumn. For serious hikers, The Mid-State Trail passes within a few minutes walk from your front door. Leisurely hikers can walk up the old abandoned railroad bed to the "tunnel" and on to Poe Paddy State Park. Mountain bike the endless off-the-beaten-paths, trails and logging roads in the area.

We are compelled to inform you that Kaarondinhah can be addictive. Enjoy it with respect.
